What it is about
Reverend Insanity is compelling because Fang Yuan is not a misunderstood hero. He is calculating, patient, and willing to treat morality as another resource inside a brutal gu cultivation world. That clarity gives the novel a hard edge: the tension is not whether the protagonist will stay pure, but how far his planning, memory, and ruthlessness can carry him.
The gu system also gives the story a stronger identity than generic realm progression. Abilities feel specific, tradeoffs matter, and many conflicts become contests of preparation rather than simple aura.
